We like to pronounce these as the ‘Belly Birds’, The smaller bird is similar to the bird on the old Irish penny, it likes to accompany the big bird! An Original design adapted by Lisa Van Eyck, in the style of the illuminated Irish gospel the Book of Kells. The design is similar to the bird on the old Irish penny, which was used before the euro came in 2001. We called this design the ‘Belle Bird’ which we like to pronounce as ‘belly bird’!
