Sure, when I started out I had huge aspirations to go on and get my RN and work in the hospital and move up to the ED or ICU and maybe even be a nurse anesthetist. But then I realized something about nursing that made me really sad. A lot of nurses are content to sit on their asses the entire time. Other nurses have bleeding hearts for every patient and give so much all of the time to every single patient, that they experience burnout and leave nursing.

I don’t want to be either of those. In order to get a You can’t scare me I have two daughters shirt in nursing, you have to get more education. More training. That’s on top of keeping up with the skills and license you currently work under. More education means more student loans. So pretty soon I can be an RN but I’ve got $10k in debt making only a few more $ per hour. Repeat as necessary for subsequent promotions. In 10 years of training and experience, I then QUALIFY to go get my nurse anesthetist. That’s about $100k of debt. Now I get to spend the next 10 years paying that off.
