But though we gravitate towards plaid in the warmer months, the pattern is not only meant for wool blankets and overcoats. Plaid can have many different personalities, and it has a long but less well-known history in the world of classy, sophisticated fashion. It turns out that plaid has a rich past dating back thousands of years, as early as the 8th century. As reported by “plaids” were actually originally not a pattern at all but the type of heavy winter cloaks worn by the Scottish long ago. The cloaks bore tartan patterns, which look similar to the plaid patterns we know today. Tartan colors were specific to different regions of Scotland based on which food dyes were available, so they came to represent the people and clans who lived in those areas.

I am could all the time during all four seasons. As long as I can have my head and arms covered, I am much warmer. I bought these hoping they were mid-way on the heaviness spectrum and they are perfect. I have a few female long sleeve t-shirts but they are not the length I wanted nor the thickness or heaviness for warmth. These are not as heavy as some of long sleeve shirts I wear outside … nice in the middle. I washed them immediately and did not see any shrinkage. I love them. I wear them mainly under a short sleeve night gown or over shorts. They work well.

I didn’t go looking for the shirt, but it found me. It was an impulse buy while browsing for other clothes and I’m glad it went into the shipping cart.
The fabric feels like a light cotton, but with strength to it. It’s not thick, but also doesn’t feel cheap.
The print seems like it’s going to hold up fine for regular use and washing. Sometimes you find a shirt and the print peels or fades quickly. This feels like any other quality print you’d find at a department store from a big name brand line.
I’m really happy with the purchase and think this could be a very easy go-to casual shirt for me in the future.
