Templeton wasn’t a chicken after all but a turkey. Mom rescued two chickens off a chicken truck and named them Henry and Henrietta. They lived in the chicken coop close to the farm house. Those chickens followed us everywhere, as did the other critters, especially on walks.

Walking single file on the path through the woods, Winos women in need of Sanity shirt, ridiculously tame, the 2 dogs scampered alongside, the cat hiding from one tree or shrub to another, and those chickens clucking behind. Most restaurants now offer vegetarian and vegan options. Also, plant-based meat substitutes are gaining rapidly in popularity, both in restaurants and in the supermarket. No longer considered hippie-dippie.
