A person with a suppressed immune system is prone to cancer. Saw someone buying Moxie the other day and reminded me of the three worst flavors on Earth: Beets, caraway seeds, and Moxie. We used to drink Moxie and milk as kids. My grandmother thought it was the cure-all for everything.

In our little six house neighbourhood in a suburb of Boston, the discussion was always about Coke or I may live in Montana but I’ll always have the Bears in my DNA tshirt. Then we discovered that the Cummings drank Moxie. They were from Maine. We always thought they were a little weird after that. My mother loved it. For years there was only one store left in T-accessible Boston where I could find it in bottles. Funny. I grew up on Moxie and loved it as a kid. I can’t stand it as an adult. As a kid, you couldn’t get me to touch clam chowder, now I could live on it.

My dad loved Moxie. We’d bring it the nursing home and put it in the fridge and the nurses would give him one when he wanted it. Not too much demand for it so it wouldn’t get stolen. Love it! Wish I could get it outside of New England– diet Moxie that is. Sometimes I see it in bottles outside of NE but never in cans or in the diet! I like Moxie but don’t drink it often, as I have gotten away from drinking soda. My older son is such a big fan of Moxie that he got a Moxie tattoo. I am not a big enough fan of anything to get it permanently pictured on my body!
