Product Description

I Am What A Person With An Invisible Illness Looks Like Shirt

I Am What A Person With An Invisible Illness Looks Like Shirt! I stood there embarrassed, shamed and not sure what to say and do. Nobody even gave me a chance to explain. I just ended up turning my cart around and walking away. Feeling humiliated. Sure, I could have gone into a big explanation and told them why. I could have shown them my cold, purple limb that was hiding under my jacket and mitt. At the time though I just wanted to get out there. I have experienced this shame before in a handicap spot, but never in a store like this and so ganged up on.

A little later I went to the pharmacy where they know me well. I noticed the lady that chimed in and helped the elderly lady was 2 people behind me. I Am What A Person With An Invisible Illness Looks Like Shirt! I went up to the desk where the cashier knows me by name and my injury. She has a quite a loud voice, just one of those people that talk loudly. Haven`t seen her in a few months, so she was asking me a bunch of questions about my nerve blocks and other treatments. Also, asking how I was managing the pain.

I answered these questions loud enough that those waiting could hear, I guess in hopes that woman that shamed me could hear also. I never did look back at her to see if she could or not. I am sure many of you have also experienced shaming moments like these. I Am What A Person With An Invisible Illness Looks Like Shirt! Share them with me, as well, share how you handle these situations. Do you tell them what is going on with you? Do you ignore it? How do these moments make you feel? I know I came home and felt horribly depressed all evening, even though I didn’t do anything wrong or deserve that kind of public shaming!
