They probably thought they would be better off dying in a field instead of a meat grinder. Neither death is good and they should be ashamed, if that’s what they did. Not to mention, if they are were male, since they were returned to the producer, they probably ended up in a meat grinder anyway, after being returned. normally they are ground to death at least this person tried to release them in a field probably in the hope they would survive. i am prone to think that it was actually done with good intentions. maybe i am naive
