Legislation will never change the heart of a Homeboy or anyone elder for that matter. People change when they have an encounter with love and hope. Not everyone was brought up in a loving supportive environment. I’m thankful for Homeboy Industries and other para-church organizations like them. It is not the government’s job to help and rehabilitate. It should be the church’s job and organizations like this. The church dropped the ball long ago so now others have to step in. What a wonderful testimony this man has. He is truly the hands and feet of Christ. I wish I could share this a million times.

There is no way that the government can do what these people do. They do this because they care. Because they truly love those whose lives have gone the wrong way. Sure the government could provide similar services but the things that make this work would be missing. The genuine caring and compassion and love.
