Film Review: ‘Men in Black: International’
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

It’s been almost 22 years since the original “Men in Black” movie hit, which is roughly the amount of time a young woman named Molly has spent wanting to be part of the super-secret alien-wrangling agency that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have so ably represented until now. Molly was just a child when she had her first close encounter of the third kind, and though the black-suited, sunglasses-at-night G-men who showed up may have erased her parents’ memories,

TV Review: ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 3
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

It took a long time for me to realize what about the evolution of “The Handmaid’s Tale” makes it feel so much less urgent in its third season. It’s not simply that it’s moved well beyond the confines of Margaret Atwood’s source material, which ran its course by the end of Season 1. It’s not even that the initial gut punch of the show — greenlit and developed well before Donald Trump was elected president — accidentally on purpose tapping into current events has faded into obscurity,

The fraught cultural politics of Disney’s new Aladdin remake

Disney’s live-action Aladdin, a remake of its 1992 animated film, has finally arrived in theaters, and on one level, it’s something of an achievement. The production, helmed by Guy Ritchie, had a hefty amount of cultural baggage to overcome, and has been dogged by controversy and skepticism over its premise and execution since before filming even began.

All the backlash isn’t entirely the 2019 film’s fault. Although the original movie was a critically acclaimed masterpiece,

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he’d be back in the first Terminator movie back in 1984 and 35 years later, that’s come true, again.

He’s returned a few times since, but the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate reunites Schwarzenegger’s T-800 robot with Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor. The movie will introduce new characters to the franchise, including Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire) as a new hybrid between terminator and human. Other actors,

A disillusioned Aaron Paul longs for someone “real” in Westworld S3 trailer

HBO took advantage of the record number of viewers tuning in to the Game of Thrones finale last night to release the first teaser for season three of Westworld. The teaser is deliberately vague on details, but it looks like we’re in for a dystopian near-future scenario set not in the original theme park but in the real outside world.

(Some spoilers for first two seasons below.)

What we think will happen on tonight’s ‘Game of Thrones’ finale
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

(CNN)After eight years the world is finally about to find out how “Game of Thrones” ends. We know some characters will die. There will probably be dragon fire. A lot of us won’t be happy with the outcome.

Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess. That trailer for tonight’s episode told us very little (basically we know the Dothraki are still riled up and that Daenerys finally disembarked from Drogon).
But hey,

DJ Khaled’s eleventh studio album out today, Father of Asahd, is yet another display of his comprehensive Rolodex. Cardi B, SZA, Meek Mill and Beyoncé all make appearances.
