Who Is Enola Holmes? Everything You Need to Know About Sherlock’s Sister
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

The number of things Sherlock Holmes has failed to deduce about the world could fill a book. In fact, considering that his little-known sister, Enola Holmes, is — according to Nancy Springer’s apocrypha — significantly smarter and more worldly than he, perhaps the things Sherlock fails to deduce could fill just as many books as the young-adult author has penned on the fictional brilliant young woman few people recognize. (That’d be six.)

In the new Netflix movie Enola Holmes,

This much-delayed “X-Men”-related film from Josh Boone features five teens with not-so-great powers.

How does one disavow an unruly mutant? Lock it up, says the Essex Corporation, the villain of “The New Mutants,” an “X-Men”-adjacent thriller about a detention hall for ultra-destructive kids — and 20th Century Studios, the manufacturer of this ramshackle flick, agrees. Last night online I tried to think of a bad song about rain, and I couldn’t come up with one, and no one else who tried to come up with one in the Twitter thread could do it either. That’s because rain is a rich topic for songwriters. You can roll it out as melodramatic mise-en-scène during a dark story song (Garth Brooks’s “The Thunder Rolls,” Brooke Benton’s “Rainy Night in Georgia”) or you can employ it as a heavy-handed metaphor for depression (The Temptations’ “I Wish It Would Rain,” the Carpenters’ “Rainy Days and Mondays”),

(CNN)First, a confession: There are those of us who have never really been fans of Scooby-Doo, or for that matter, those meddling kids. Still, the animated dog and his crime-solving crew have been around for 50 years, which explains why there’s a movie called “Scoob!,” one so inconsequential and flat it doesn’t lose much by premiering on a TV screen.

“Scoob!” had been destined for theaters before coronavirus intervened. As studios try to make the best of a bad situation and feed the appetite for new content,
