Confederate Memorial Day falls on the fourth Monday of the month, this year coming on April 27.

On a typical Confederate Memorial Day, state offices and courts, including license and car tag offices, are closed. Most city and county offices and courts are open, though the COVID-19 stay-at-home order has stopped many operations.

The pandemic has claimed yet another young victim, as New York rapper Fred the Godson has died from COVID-19 at age 35. His death was confirmed by his friend, DJ Self.

PNC: Customers checking for stimulus payments caused technical issues

PNC Bank customers were having problems accessing their online or mobile banking accounts Wednesday morning, a day when 80 million Americans were expected to receive their direct deposited stimulus checks from the U.S. government.

NFL quarterback and Montgomery native Tarvaris Jackson dies in auto wreck

A former NFL and Alabama State University quarterback has died following a single-vehicle wreck Sunday night.

State Trooper Michael Carswell said Tarvaris Dandre Jackson, 36, died shortly after 9 p.m. following the wreck near Pike Road.

Jackson was traveling on Pike Road near Antioch Lane, about 7 miles south of Montgomery, when his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, Carswell said. Jackson was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
