‘Good Liar’ reviews: Critics call Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen’s thirller ‘underwhelming’

Critics are telling the hard truth about the film “Good Liar.”

Ian McKellen stars as Roy Courtnay, a charming career con artist who has his eyes set on his next target: Gullible, wealthy widow Betty McLeish, played by Helen Mirren.

Most critics, however, say the crime thriller’s plot was “clunky” and “underwhelming,” despite the best efforts from the British acting legends. (“Good Liar” has a Metacritic rating of 54 out of 100 and is listed as 63% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as of Friday evening.)

2 Dead, Several Hurt In Shooting At Calif. High School; Suspect In ‘Grave Condition’

Two students have died after a gunman opened fire Thursday morning at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, Calif., according to law enforcement officials. Three other students also were shot.

Authorities have not named the suspect but say he is a 16-year-old student at the school. He carried out the attack on his birthday.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has become the target of a viral death hoax. The 47-year-old actor is not dead; however, thousands of unsuspecting fans shared the fake news on their social media timeline.

A hoax news story that has been circulating on Facebook claiming the actor and WWE star died after a failed stunt with the following headline: “BBC: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Dies at 47 after a terrible stunt attempted failed.”
