The team is trading Horford to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who first reported the trade, the Sixers are receiving Terrance Ferguson and Danny Green, while Oklahoma City is receiving a lightly-protected 2025 first-round pick, the 34th pick in Wednesday night’s draft and the rights to Vasilije Micic.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks notes the trade cannot happen until the Lakers’ reported trade with the Thunder is completed, or it could become a three-team trade.

Starting in 2020-21, Horford has $27.5M, $27M and $26.5M left on his contract.

The last year has $14.5M in guaranteed money.

Green is on an expiring $15.4M contract

The 33-year-old Green is under contract for one more season. He’s a three-time NBA champion, a 40 percent career shooter from three-point range and, the Sixers will hope, able to help in an area where they need it. The team was 22nd in three-point attempts last year. The 22-year-old Ferguson is a defensively oriented wing who’s averaged 4.8 points and 1.4 rebounds over three NBA seasons. He’ll be on the final year of his rookie contract.

Dealing away Horford was evidently a priority for new Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey. The pairing with Horford and Joel Embiid was a season-long problem for the Sixers as the team sported a minus-0.5 net rating in the regular season when the two shared the floor.

With Horford exiting, finding a backup center will presumably be an offseason priority. Norvel Pelle is currently the team’s primary backup big man under contract.
