Helpful would be salaries communsurate with job importance and a lot less denigration of the profession.And too it might be wise not retrench ,because of budgetary constraints, teachers as quickly and as often as in the past.

I keep wondering why, with all the money spent on curriculum development, school buildings, books etc., why our populace seems to be lacking in general education, and is so accepting of information that is clearly not credible, and are so deficient in the history of our country and its government and Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions tshirt. There is a gap in education and it needs filling with common sense teaching, and getting down to basics. There is no excuse for floating by until age 16 to quit to get a job at McDonalds and get to vote without any knowledge of government or the Constitution. Research has shown that people tend to avoid information that contradicts their beliefs or way of thinking. And this can be done in two ways, actively and Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions tshirt. Actively means that they will choose which articles to read, to ignore the speech of a politician they don’t support, and generally to select the information they will consume. Passively means re-interpreting the information you receive if it runs counter your beliefs, judging it or adapting it to match your opinion so that you won’t have to doubt your own thinking.
