It was the perfect way to celebrate Ben’s birthday and make a Nana Life Bird Flower Love shirt and tears.  I wrote for Scott to ask his dad when he learned he only had a short time to live. My husband, his brother, and his sister sat with Ben at the hospital, asking the questions that led to tears, laughter, connection, forgiveness, and understanding. I included in it at the end some writings my father had left behind relating his life. I had the booklet bound and printed copies for each of my children and grandchildren who were old enough to appreciate it. Hopefully, they still retain the copies and remember some of the fun and challenges I experience as a child. It was quite a fun experience.

Nana Life Bird Flower Love shirt to the time my children were born as I felt from that point forward it would be their responsibility to document their own lives. I am now 77 and every once in a while pull my book out and read it and smile. One can be with family, but not feel known by them or feel that one knows them well. I am with my children and grand often and we are in touch using FaceTime. Our times together are fun, busy and hectic and with small children usually around our conversations are much like a weather report; we cover who is doing what and when, but there isn’t much time or inclination to discuss how many of us are feeling about what is going on in our lives; past or present.
