I know there are some bad apples, but as a teacher, my profession is under attack at so many levels. we are disparaged, underfunded, and even attacked now by national programming. Where I live, public school teachers cannot afford to live in the same communities as the students they serve. The only reason they teach is that someone in their family supports their passion to help bring up children to be effective and productive citizens. Let’s do what we can to push and keep well qualified and well-meaning teachers into the profession. There are enough negative stereotypes out there. Let’s invest in education instead of jails. If we do that then teachers can educate the children and teach them how to become productive citizens. Then we won’t need to lock them up.

I totally agree! I’m a teacher, too, and definitely noticed how this Harry Potter Hogwarts was not hiring so I heal Muggles instead tshirt is not an accurate or justified portrayal of today’s teachers, not by a long shot. My heart broke for the boy and the parents in this shirt. And we definitely do not want anyone to hear or believe something like what said in the shirt. Teachers, in general, are such good people! We also take a bashing from the public a lot, and that is definitely not fair. We are up against such a mountain to effectively teach and nurture with the tools that we give. Teachers need support, not unjustified criticism. Oh for goodness sake, it was not an attack on teachers. But more on the conditioning of society. So that often dictates that we defined by what others think. Which of course is wrong. It took an extreme situation to make the point which you all missed. I too am a teacher but not in the U.S.
