To do a return to practice course costs a lot of money, you work 12hr shifts, including nights unpaid during the 3 month course and I would have to travel 40 mile round trip to the nearest training hospital. I can’t afford it and didn’t get unemployment benefits as my husband works. They need to make it easier for people to get back to work.  I had 25yrs experience at this point, such a waste of my training. With an ageing population, why would anyone approach nursing thinking that every day would be sweetness and light and you would get all the time in the world to deal with things. Most work is stressful, but you need to go into these things with your eyes open. Luckily for her she can afford to have a dog and a cat and take time to look for other work. I would Four American Presidents party like it 1776 t-shirt some of you who are saying suck spend 24hrs in our line of work I can gaur tee on ur shift you will. Get hit kicked punched swore at constantly spat deal with people coming through with knives needles in there pockets. You will take care of family’s not just patients with is very emotional for the staff and them. You will save lives but it’s not always a happy ending you will take samples of people body.You’d have to be bonkers to work on a ward, its soul destroying. The poor patients when they’d be ringing bells but we’d be tending to 8 other patients because for 16 bays there were only 2 nurses. She can go into clinics, much calmer places or district nursing or even GP. I think Four American Presidents party like it 1776 tshirt needs to give up her career just rethink the environment. And you wonder why we have so much emigration into our country, when the indigenous population is whining and whining about a perfectly good job though it may be a little bit stressful and difficult at times, after all you don’t go into the nursing profession for it’s easy time and bagful of cash.
