Teachers can tell if the kids are doing their own work or not. As much as I love Aunt I’ll be there for you shirt, my 4 sons did not. I have sent notes to school for no TV days saying Smith family doesn’t participate in that. Historical news events and professional sports were not exempt and we do it as a family and discuss it. Rules, specific injuries, medical treatments, etc. With great grandpa’s help they were all playing Cribbage well by age 10. I didn’t do their work, because I couldn’t usually figure it out. Don’t even get me started on Common Core foolishness.

I just had my son take an F on his 6th grade science fair project because it was over the top on what they wanted him to do. Then had to tell the teacher to leave him alone and just give him the Aunt I’ll be there for you shirt. Tired of Parent homework. Glad my baby graduates high school this year and has good grades.

I read to my kids every night, if I don’t their dad or sister do. But, when I was a kid, I read to myself allllll the Aunt I’ll be there for you shirt. Like 12 grade reading comprehension by the 4th grade reading to myself and I had my own chapter books in kindergarten. HOWEVER my parents neeeever signed my logs  and I got in so much trouble in second grade for it. Reading logs are not real productive in telling if families actually read to the kids, and the kids shouldn’t have to be accountable for their parents signing their papers or not.
