Jacksonville Jaguars Vs. Tennessee Titans: Thursday Night Football Week 3 NFL Schedule, Odds, Pick

The Tennessee Titans are visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars for a Thursday Night Football game that will kick off Week 3 of the 2019 NFL season. This AFC South rivalry is once again taking center stage as the opening contest on the schedule, something it has done twice in the past three years. The Titans dominated both of those Thursday Night Football contests, besting their foe 36-22 in October 2016 and 30-9 in December of last year. To be fair, the Jaguars haven’t done well against Tennessee regardless of which day the games are held, coming into tonight having lost four straight and six of the last seven matchups dating back to 2015.

Despite their ineptitude, Jacksonville is only a slight underdog at home for the Week 3 opener. Oddsmakers opened betting with the Titans as 1.5-point chalk and that line hasn’t shifted despite an overwhelming number of backers taking their side. With just a few hours before Thursday Night Football’s scheduled 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, a whopping 70% of public tickets and 72% of all money wagered is on Tennessee to cover. The total for the contest is the lowest on the board this week, initially opening at 41 points but now sitting at just 38 points. It seems that sportsbooks can’t make the line low enough, as the under side of the line is still drawing more bets and cash wagered, with a 61% share for each.Bettors may understandably be staying away from the Jags if they’ve been burned by them in this series before, as the squad has only beaten the number once in the last six tries against the Titans. Both teams are currently 1-1 against the spread to start the 2019 NFL season, but Tennessee boasts a better SU record at 1-1—compared to Jacksonville at 0-2—and played competitively in both contests. The Titans blew out a hyped Cleveland Browns team on the road to start the year, then fell just short against the Indianapolis Colts by giving up a touchdown in the waning minutes game last week. Jacksonville stumbled out of the gate against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, a game in which they also lost quarterback Nick Foles for approximately 10 weeks to a collarbone injury. The team replaced Foles, a key acquisition for the organization in free agency this past offseason, with rookie sixth-rounder Gardner Minshew, who will get the start again tonight. The Jags had a realchance to get to .500 in Week 2 against the Houston Texans, but failed to find the end zone after head coach Doug Marrone made a controversial decision to forego kicking the extra point and instead try for a game-winning two-point conversion after the offense scored a touchdown with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Will the Titans get back on track with yet another victory over the Jaguars tonight, or will Jacksonville find a way to best its AFC South rival for the first time in nearly three years by pulling off the upset? Pro handicapper Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com sent along his prediction for the outcome, but before seeing who the Vegas expert is picking against the spread, take a look at the full schedule, start times, viewing information and updated odds for every Week 3 game of the 2019 NFL season.
