Their regularly scheduled game against the Sharks was on track to be played, as of Monday night. … Forward Lawson Crouse was eligible to come off the COVID protocol list Monday, along with injured forward Jay Beagle. Crouse could play as soon as Tuesday. … There are still four other players in the protocol, Liam O’Brien, Alex Galchenyuk, Christian Fischer and Ilya Lyubushkin. … The NHL over the weekend brought back taxi squads to help teams with a number of players out due to COVID, and the Coyotes assembled their six-man squad Monday, made up of players who had been at AHL Tucson. …The Coyotes went 5-2-1 against San Jose last season when both were in the West Division. They will meet twice more this season, with Arizona in the Central now. … Phil Kessel scored 10 goals against the Sharks last season, and Clayton Keller had nine points in those eight games. … The Coyotes called up F Jan Jenik from Tucson on Monday, but not to be on the taxi squad. Jenik made his NHL debut in playing the final two games of last season, and scored a goal in each, both at San Jose on May 7 and 8, 2021.
