(CNN)Former pro basketball player Andre Emmett, 37, was shot and killed early Monday morning in Dallas. Police have not disclosed a motive.

After playing for four years at Texas Tech under head coach Bob Knight, Emmett was drafted in the second round of the 2004 NBA draft with the 35th overall pick.
Emmett had brief stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets, and he more recently played professionally in the three-on-three league,

The marquee game of Week 3 lived up to the billing. The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens played a thriller, with Kansas City ultimately prevailing 33-28 despite a late charge from Baltimore. The New England Patriots released Antonio Brown on Friday, leaving the embroiled wide receiver’s NFL career in limbo as he faces mounting off-the-field trouble that includes allegations he sexually assaulted two women.

A day after Brown allegedly sent threatening text messages to one of the women, the Patriots cut him — less than two weeks after they promptly signed Brown when he forced his release from the Oakland Raiders.

It was Brown who broke the news on his Twitter account.

The Chicago Bears did something very few teams have accomplished since 2000 — defeating the Broncos in Denver in the first two weeks of September during a wild 16-14 victory. As my colleague R.J. White pointed out earlier this week, going back to 1975, the Broncos are 48-6 straight up at home in Weeks 1 and 2 (including 22-1 since 2000). We can make that 22-2 now since 2000.
