Nick Chubb powered the Cleveland Browns to a 40-25 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens, becoming the first Browns running back to have three rushing touchdowns in a single game against the Ravens. Chubb finished with over 160 yards rushing, including a back-breaking 88-yard touchdown run with 9:35 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Browns a two-score cushion in the road victory over the Ravens.

For Chubb, the three touchdowns were a career high, and came an afternoon where the Browns compiled over 500 yards of offense. The Browns were 1-10 against John Harbaugh-coached Ravens teams in Baltimore heading into this game.

The Browns outrushed the Ravens in this one, a surprising result given Baltimore entered the contest averaging over 210 rushing yards in the game. Once the game was out of reach, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson looked mortal. Jackson had a streak of 248 straight pass attempts without an interception end with two interceptions in the fourth quarter. Jackson did have three passing touchdowns, but the Ravens were doomed by three turnovers as they lost their second consecutive game, giving up 500 yards of offense in both defeats.

Baker Mayfield had his third straight 300-yard game against the Ravens, despite just two catches by Odell Beckham. The Browns have started 2-0 on the road for the first time since 1994.Why the Browns won
The Browns had an excellent game plan to get Nick Chubb the ball, and he took over the game in the second half with 10 carries for 131 yards and three touchdowns, an instrumental part why the Browns were able to score 30 points in the second half against a Ravens defense that came into Week 4 allowing just 20 points per game, which was 10th in the NFL.

The Browns also gashed the Ravens with short, quick throws to get Baker Mayfield going, which worked as Mayfield completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 342 yards. Reserve tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, had two big third down catches that extended Cleveland drives and led to 14 points, one of which was a 3rd-and-3 catch for a touchdown.

Why the Ravens lost
The Ravens, historically known for their defense, have some serious issues on that side of the ball. After allowing 502 yards to the Chiefs in a loss last week, the Ravens allowed 530 to the Browns.. Baltimore allowed 337 passing yards and 193 rushing yards, being gashed on runs by Nick Chubb throughout the afternoon.

Lamar Jackson did everything he could to get the Ravens back in it, but threw back-to-back interceptions that led to 10 points in the fourth quarter that put the game way out of reach.

Turning Point
The Ravens were trailing 17-10 midway through the third quarter when they turned the ball over for the first time this season. Baltimore was in the middle of a seven-play, 49-yard drive when Mark Ingram fumbled after pounding for six yards, and Chad Thomas recovered the fumble, giving Cleveland the ball at their own 26.

The Browns responded with an eight-play, 74 yard drive capped by Chubb’s two-yard touchdown run to put Cleveland up 24-10 with 53 seconds left in the third quarter.

Play of the Game
Nick Chubb silenced the Baltimore crowd with a season-high 88-yard touchdown run, the second run he’s had over 88 yards in his young career. The Ravens found their way back into the game with a 14-play, 75-yard drive that had the makings of a Lamar Jackson comeback after he ran for two huge first downs and threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mark Andrews to make it a one-score game. A two-point conversion made the score 24-18 with the Ravens’ crowd the loudest they were all day.

On the first play of the Browns ensuing drive, Chubb put them into stunned silence with on a toss which he took for the 88-yard score that put the Browns up 30-18 with 9:35 left.

Chubb has three touchdown runs of 60 yards or longer since the start of the 2018 season, which is the most in the NFL. Also, Chubb is the first player ever with 150 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in a game against the Ravens.

Quotable
“Anybody could have ran through that. It was a pretty big hole … It starts with the O-Line, they have to give me some kind of opening which they do. They’ve been doing a great job, I just got to finish the run and get into the end zone,” Chubb said after the game.

What’s Next
The Browns (2-2) are in first place in the AFC North for the first time in five years and will look to retain that for another week with a showdown on Monday Night Football against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on the road. This is expected to be one of the better Monday Night Football games of the season as San Francisco is coming off a bye week and are currently tied for first place in the NFC West.

The Ravens (2-2) will look to avoid a third straight loss as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on their arch-rival Steelers (0-3). Baltimore-Pittsburgh games are always intense battles, but Pittsburgh will have something to play for if it beats Cincinnati Monday.
