The Cup series heads to Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday for the 2019 GEICO 500, with the green flag dropping at 2 p.m. ET. It’s a new era of racing at NASCAR’s biggest oval, with no restrictor plates for the first time in three decades. As a result, there are a whopping 15 drivers with 20-1 NASCAR at Talladega odds or better. Joey Logano won this race last year and is the co-favorite with 8-1 GEICO 500 odds.

Days Gone is a lavishly produced, painfully generic PS4 zombie game

Sony has been on a roll of late. The company has published some of the most acclaimed single-player blockbuster video games of the last few years, ranging from the superhero adventure Spider-Man to the surprisingly emotional reboot of God of War to the vast, intricate open-world of Horizon Zero Dawn. While many publishers have primarily shifted to the more lucrative space of live-service games, Sony has become one of the last bastions of support for lavishly produced story-driven titles — which is what makes Days Gone so disappointing.

‘Cobra Kai’ delivers even bigger kicks in second season
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

“Cobra Kai” was such a pleasant surprise as to invite skepticism whether this long-delayed “The Karate Kid” sequel could do it again. But Season 2 of the YouTube series is, if anything, better than the first — a teen soap, largely, which also packs a wryly nostalgic kick.

Part of that has to do with the arrival of original bad guy Martin Kove, who popped up in the first-season finale and slides back into the role of Kreese as if no time has passed at all.

Russell Westbrook still can’t overcome Russell Westbrook

When I woke up this morning after barely three hours of sleep, I had a message from my little brother: “Russ has got to learn how to shoot, man.”

Damian Lillard’s deep three to clinch the series against the Thunder was amazing, and so expected in the midst of the game he was having. Lillard was on a mission throughout the night, and it seemed regardless of how well the Thunder were playing collectively — better than they had played in their other three losses,

By landing Cole Anthony, UNC shows it can get five-star recruits again and that its NCAA issues are long gone
  • By michael@cvcteam.com

Because of what amounted to a loophole in the NCAA rulebook, North Carolina’s men’s basketball program was never formally punished for what some experts called one of the worst academic scandals in history. It outrages outsiders to this day. But that doesn’t mean, and it never meant, the Tar Heels didn’t pay a price.

The NCAA cloud cost them recruits — most notably Brandon Ingram.

“I think I would have,” Ingram answered back in April 2015 when asked whether he would’ve already committed to UNC if not for the uncertainty that an ongoing (at the time) NCAA investigation had created.

(CNN)Florida prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against rapper YNW Melly in connection with the killing of two men.

Prosecutors will look to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” the 19-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Jamell Demons, committed homicide “in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner” for financial gain, according to a Thursday court filing.
Police arrested YNW Melly and another man, Cortlen Henry, in February, charging them with two counts of murder.
