Because of what amounted to a loophole in the NCAA rulebook, North Carolina’s men’s basketball program was never formally punished for what some experts called one of the worst academic scandals in history. It outrages outsiders to this day. But that doesn’t mean, and it never meant, the Tar Heels didn’t pay a price.

The NCAA cloud cost them recruits — most notably Brandon Ingram.

“I think I would have,” Ingram answered back in April 2015 when asked whether he would’ve already committed to UNC if not for the uncertainty that an ongoing (at the time) NCAA investigation had created.

Seahawks trade Frank Clark to Chiefs, shaking up 2019 NFL Draft by adding No. 29 pick

Frank Clark is on the move, folks. As has been reported for months, the Chiefs were interested in nabbing the Seahawks pass rusher and now it is a done deal, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora confirms.

Clark, who was tagged by the Seahawks this offseason, will go to Kansas City for quite the haul, as the Seahawks will get a first-round pick in 2019 and a second-round pick (the later of the Chiefs two picks) in 2020.

Rapper YNW Melly could face the death penalty in Florida killings

(CNN)Florida prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against rapper YNW Melly in connection with the killing of two men.

Prosecutors will look to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” the 19-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Jamell Demons, committed homicide “in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner” for financial gain, according to a Thursday court filing.
Police arrested YNW Melly and another man, Cortlen Henry, in February, charging them with two counts of murder.

Manchester City moved back to the top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham thanks to Phil Foden’s first Premier League goal.

The 18-year-old headed Sergio Aguero’s knock down in from close range after the Argentina international had got on the end of Bernardo Silva’s cross.

Lorraine Warren, a renowned paranormal investigator and the custodian of arguably the world’s most famous haunted doll, has died at age 92. Zoom nearly reaches $16 billion in value after first day of trading

San Francisco (CNN Business)Video-conferencing company Zoom soared during its debut as a public company.

Shares were up more than 72% at the end of its first day of trading Thursday, to $62 a share. Zoom (ZM) had priced its IPO at $36 per share. It was valued at just under $16 billion when the markets closed.
The company was the second highest-profile technology IPO on Thursday, overshadowed in hype by social site Pinterest (PINS).
